Dear reader,
Welcome to Issue 110!
This, reader, is a good one, grappling with the current moment and eternity via catastrophes (what else?), vampires, elementary physics, monuments and historical sites, neighbors, friends, family, community, the self and other monsters, and, well, even more catastrophes and monsters, so naturally we want to get you back to the table of contents and reading as soon as possible. But first, we hope you’ll indulge us sharing a bit of news. We’ll keep it brief.
After an exceptional run as reviews editor—seven years! 59 issues!—Michael Jauchen will be stepping down. This is, we probably don’t need to say, sad news. We are so grateful for all of Michael’s work over his tenure as reviews editor. We wish him all the best.
And fortunately, we have some happy news to share, too, to make up for that sad news: With this issue, Alice Maglio has joined the masthead as our reviews editor. We are so looking forward to working with Alice. Her wonderfully perceptive reviews in past issues of The Rupture focused on innovative, hybrid work from small presses, exactly the kind of books we most want to champion. To say this bodes well (for the magazine, of course, but also for our readers, and for readers more generally) would be an understatement. Welcome, Alice!
As always, thank you, reader, for stopping by. We’re glad you’re here.
Sincerely,
Gabriel Blackwell
