I can't find any record that Anne Carson was there. In Swannanoa, North Carolina, teaching at Warren Wilson College with me one residency. Nothing. I think I remember her wearing webbed gloves on her way to swim laps. We ate dinner once together at a seafood place near the Waffle House out on the highway leading into Asheville. It was named The Neptune or The Poseidon. I don't remember. I don't remember what we ordered. Fish. Fish I'd guess. But what kind? I do remember her questioning if it was a good idea to order ocean fish up in the mountains this far from any ocean.
