Sheets of Silver

Daniel D’Angelo

Oh yeah yes the rain let up!
In the left half of the clear

sky a plane parked—
you could see its blue stomach!

(It has people inside it!)
I knew the earth spread

away plunged vanished
                                    us!

What about the city!
It lay, sprawled (the hell)

out! (Tears in our eyes—
kill us—lipsticky circles

drawn on the people's chests.)
Head really full of sperm or oil.

Now the right half of the sky
lit up—"for a hugely long instant

the blue-white flash made everything
transparent"
—we had seen it before!

And someone told us about it!
The effect it has                      is

Real and Doable Mind Readership.
After all, adult babes we are, we

fanned out (in a deep way!),
separated out, rainbovianly.

We never made sense of our powers,
you know. A blast of blue air and flame,

me and some people!
