Letter from the Editors

Dear Reader,

Welcome to Issue Fifty-Eight of The Collagist! We are pleased to announce a new partnership with DISQUIET, the Disquiet Prize in Poetry, to be awarded annually. This year's winner is Colie Hoffman, for her poem, "Hug Machine."

We also have some fantastic fiction for you in this issue, from Michael Jeffrey Lee, Glenn Shaheen, Sabrina Orah Mark, and returning contributor Amy Benson, and we're very excited to have an excerpt from another returning contributor, Norman Lock's new novel The Boy in His Winter, as well as an excerpt from Paul Curran's debut novel, Left Hand. Our poetry comes from Russell Brakefield, Kelli J. Christenson, Joshua Mensch, and Christopher Parks, and our nonfiction is from Aubrey Hirsch.

We have reviews of The Fata Morgana Books by Jonathan Littell (reviewed by Veronica Popp), Tyrannia and Other Renditions by Alan DeNiro (reviewed by Nick Kocz), Lost in Space by Ben Tanzer (reviewed by James Orbesen), and Flowers & Mishima's Illustrated Biography by Mario Bellatin (reviewed by Angela Woodward).

We're already getting lots of entries for our 2014 Chapbook Contest, but please keep them coming and don't forget that the deadline is July 15, at midnight.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out the new issue. We are very grateful for all of our wonderful contributors, and for you, our readers.

Sincerely,
Gabriel Blackwell and Matthew Olzmann
